Used Injection Molding Machines for PET Preforms

PET preforms & bottle blanks

PET preforms are the small blanks that are later blow-molded into beverage and water bottles. They are typically produced in high-cavity molds on injection molding machines fitted with a PET screw and barrel — a standard screw can degrade PET during plasticizing.

Typical machine requirements: clamp force around 180–380 tonnes depending on cavitation and preform weight, a PET screw and barrel on the injection unit, a preform mold with hot runners, and auxiliaries — a dehumidifying dryer and a chiller are essential. Output is usually measured in preforms per hour.

Key requirements

The figures below are typical industry guidance — the right machine always depends on your exact mold and product.

  • Clamp force: ~180–380T depending on cavitation and preform weight
  • Injection unit: PET screw and barrel — a standard screw degrades PET
  • Mold + hot runner: multi-cavity preform molds with hot-runner systems
  • Auxiliaries: dehumidifying dryer and chiller are essential
  • Cavitation & output: output usually measured in preforms per hour

An honest note about our stock

At the moment we have no PET-dedicated machine in stock — so we are not presenting any current machine as a PET preform machine. Preform systems are sourced to order: send us your requirements and we will find a suitable machine, pair it with the mold and auxiliaries, and test it before delivery. Browse our current stock on the Machines page, or contact us directly.
