Plastic buckets, pails & thin-wall containers
Buckets and pails — from 1-litre paint pails to 20-litre industrial buckets — are among the most common products made on used injection molding machines. Food-grade buckets, chemical pails, paint containers and household tubs all fall into this application.
Typical machine requirements: clamp force around 180–450 tons, enough tie-bar space for the bucket mold, sufficient shot weight for the part plus runner, and a mold height that fits the machine’s daylight. Thin-wall buckets cycle faster and usually need the higher end of the tonnage range with a fast injection unit.
Key requirements
The figures below are typical industry guidance — the right machine always depends on your exact mold and product.
- Clamp force: ~180–450T for most bucket and pail work (thin-wall, fast-cycle jobs sit at the higher end)
- Tie-bar space: wide enough to fit the bucket mold footprint
- Shot weight: must cover the part plus runner with a comfortable margin
- Mold height / daylight: must fit the bucket mold stack height
